The fabric is a nice heavy-weight high-quality fabric that you would expect of surplus-type pants. I have these in black in my normal size 27 and they are big in the waist even with the side buttoned on the tightest setting. I also have these in green in a 26 and they are very snug on my waist with the sides completely unbuttoned. With how big the 27s were, I thought the 26s would be perfect, but there seems to be a big difference between the two. They hold their shape and size with wear throughout the day. I love these pants otherwise and even though one pair is very loose and one pretty snug, they both still look nice. The rise is higher, but I guess that goes with the trend these days. The length is perfect for my 5'5" height.

I'm usually a size 8, ordered these in a size 30. Good fit at waist and hips, not too snug. Loved the color and fabric. Amazing deep dark green, soft fabric, button fly. Legs were cut very relaxed/loose and the 28" length looked goofy on me - 5'10". I love cropped pants and wear them all the time but the little-too-short length combined with the very straight baggy leg on these didn't look right. Wish the inseam was longer then people could wear them long or cuff/roll them as desired.
